3 min read

Calling all heroes of Azeroth and tabletop adventurers! World of Warcraft is officially making its way to Dungeons & Dragons this fall. Announced live at Gen Con during the "A New Dawn of D&D" keynote, D&D: World of Warcraft is a brand-new official gameplay expansion bringing Blizzard's legendary MMO to the tabletop for the first time in over twenty years. The full global release is scheduled for November 17, 2026, with early digital access opening on November 3, 2026 for players who jump in early.

Where to Pre-Order & Bundle Options

If you are eager to secure your copy, pre-orders are officially open now across D&D Beyond, Amazon, and local game stores. Players looking to dive in can choose from several physical and digital options depending on how deep they want to jump into Azeroth. The standalone digital expansion on D&D Beyond starts at $39.99 USD, while the physical hardcover core book retails for $59.99 USD. If you want the best of both worlds, a physical and digital bundle is available for $79.99 USD. Local game stores will also carry an exclusive alternate cover edition featuring deep-sea Murloc artwork for $59.99 USD.

For Dungeon Master tools and physical extras, you can pick up the double-sided Dungeon Master's Screen for $24.99 USD or the standalone Icecrown Citadel Map Pack for $19.99 to $29.90 USD. Collectors can go all-in with the $124.99 USD Ultimate Bundle or the $144.99 USD Collector’s Edition Ultimate Bundle, which comes wrapped in a special foil-and-sculpted Alliance and Horde slipcase.

Pre-ordering either of the Ultimate Bundles unlocks a huge haul of physical and digital extras, including an exclusive physical Murloc Promo Mini and an Icy Throne digital dice set. Best of all for active MMO players, pre-orders include an account redemption code sent straight to your email for exclusive World of Warcraft in-game items: the Black Dragon Mount, the Gazer pet, and a Mimic Chest toy and decor set.

What's Inside the Core Gameplay Expansion

The 300-page core book serves as the flagship release for D&D's new "Universes Beyond" initiative, adapting the world of Warcraft into the updated 2024 5th Edition ruleset. Inside, players will find complete character creation options spanning all 13 World of Warcraft classes, recreated through custom "Class Skins" and more than 40 specializations. The book introduces six brand-new subclasses alongside three refreshed archetypes, allowing you to play as an Oath of the Ebon Blade Paladin, a high-mobility Demon Hunter Ranger, a Shadow Domain Cleric, or a Path of the Elements Barbarian.

Character origins are equally rich, featuring 16 playable species. You can create heroes using 11 brand-new options—including Dracthyr, Draenei, Earthen, Forsaken, Haranir, Mechagnomes, Pandaren, Tauren, Trolls, Vulpera, and Worgen—or select from updated takes on classic D&D species like Orcs, Humans, and Elves. Your choice of species ties directly into a new 23-faction reputation system, letting your party earn standing, unique rewards, and allies with Horde, Alliance, or neutral factions as you travel across Azeroth.

To make combat and exploration feel authentically Warcraft, the book includes over 60 iconic spells like Moonfire and Rune Strike, more than 30 new magic items, collectible mounts, and companion pets. Adventurers can also spend downtime utilizing a 10-profession crafting system to forge equipment, prepare potions, and tinker with engineering devices. For Dungeon Masters, the core book provides over 50 monster stat blocks, 30 boss fights, and seven classic dungeons completely rebuilt for tabletop play, including fan favorites like the Deadmines, Scarlet Monastery, Onyxia's Lair, and Shadowfang Keep.

Endgame Raiding: Icecrown Citadel Companion Adventure

For gaming groups seeking a true endgame challenge, Wizards of the Coast and Blizzard are releasing the Icecrown Citadel Map Pack and Digital Adventure alongside the main book. Designed specifically for high-level characters spanning levels 16 to 20, this five-chapter digital campaign takes parties through ten iconic boss encounters straight up to the Frozen Throne to face the Lich King.

The physical map pack complements the digital adventure with five double-sided poster maps and two token sheets featuring 74 punch-out tokens to populate your battlegrids. Along the way, players can uncover 16 legendary artifact items, including the iconic runeblade Frostmourne and the death-charger Invincible. Whether you fight for the Horde or the Alliance, Azeroth's grandest tabletop chapter is about to begin!
